I don't honestly think TVR did test it's durability with the SP6 engine. The early engines were problematic and there is no denying that a lot of them require to be rebuilt. It looks very much like the engines in the Tuscan 2 and Sagaris are very durable with many of them having achieved good milage without any issues. As well as a now sorted engine the new cars now have excellent handling charactaristics and are very well put together.
With regards the engine dont forget that the SP6 is a FANTASTIC engine and do not let rebuild worries put you of sourcing a car with this engine.
If you are talking about Tuscans before 2004 then my advise would be to get a car that has had a rebuild as it seems like cars engines from this time frame onwards are the most reliable.
I will say it again the SP6 is an awesome engine and remember for this type of performance from a Ferrari and Porsche etc you would be looking at 2x3 times the price, These cars are fantastic value and offer a huge thrill/smile everytime you turn the key.
