Hi Guys, I'm in the process of looking at a few Tamora's and I've come across a cheap 2002 one which has a shagged engine (other than that it is mint). I've read about the various rebuilds on offer, but I was also thinking about getting a later 4.0 S6 engine from maybe a write-off and swapping it over (especially as some people consider them to have greater longevity than the earlier 3.6 ones).

Just really wanted to know if anyone has done the conversion and are there any major hurdles in the way?

I would also be interested in a V8 conversion similar to what the SpeedEight guy has done to his Tuscan, but to be honest this would probably be a bit too much for me to do myself. And I think the SpeedEight guy only does the conversions on Tuscans.

Any help muchly appreciated.

Now then Ray,

There is somebody on here that has already done exactly as you suggest, changed out a shagged engine for a later second hand engine. It was, I understand very successful for him. I personnally reckon it is a lttle too risky and besides I don't like the methods employed by TVR in resolving the top end issues. I don't believe it to be a properly engineered solution, however this is only my opinion.

It would be worth your while touching base with Richard the guy behind the Speed 8 project he is very approachable and may be able to confirm if it is a viable transplant for a Tamora.

Good luck
