Just say you had the chance to aquire a block and you had the intention of stripping it right down and re building it. Where would you purchase the following items and why ?

Crank
Con Rods
Pistons
Cams
Followers
Valves and guides

And any other internal items!

Your insights would be much appreciated.

Mark.

I suggest Autocraft, with your choice of specs/costs.

Autocraft seem to be the way forward, but because they dont appear to have to much history under their belt i was asking the question to see if there was any opinions on TVR Power or Austec, I have purchased a full engine with no history apart from the car was written off, its a 4ltr 2004 lump. My project next year is to build the engine from the bottom up with the intention of producing around 450bhp naturally aspirated and adding a supercharger to increase the bhp a further 75bhp. Obviously making sure i have the best parts available. I would like to think that the new engine will be fitted late summer next year. I will then see how it goes and if all is well i will do the same to the original engine and keep it as a spare.

I will also need the head to be revised once i know whats involved,

As an owner of a Craft engined Tuscan, I would have to agree, especially if you're talking superchargers.

Mark, phone Paul Austin, he might just have ALL the parts you require, including charger. Not sure about the costing, logistics of supply etc etc, but we were talking about this this morining when I collected my car.

You'll be supprised how many threads he does actully read!

Is your car on the road now then? The last I read you were pretty close. I'd be really interested to hear how it performs...

It's early days, Craft & Austec are only ones out there so far..

We're heading down similar route, but I'm not s/charging now to minimise heat & drivetrain issues. Hopefully mine will be done in Spring though. If you are going the supercharged route, it appears you won't need more than a 3.6 unless you're desperate for more than 525bhp... hehe

Weather permitting, I am driving a Craft supercharged S6 around at the moment and to my knowledge its the first one to have been done. I can tell you its awesome...but it's not quite finished, its limited to 5000rpm for the rest of the run in period and then its got to go back on the rollers to sort out the top end fueling 6000rpm on.

There is a lot more you need to look at than just the engine. If you seek a tuning shop with a reliable track record then I suggest you speak to people who have already done it to an S6 and a Dodge Viper and a Nissan 350Z and a 1500BHP monster truck, ohh and there's the 5.5 S/C Cerb they are currently on with.
