Out for a blast earlier today, recently had the 12K service completed, and it was running very well, and it's got altogether a bit tapetty.

SP6 4.0 Litre Tuscan.

Sounds like one tappet, certainly high up in the engine.

Any ideas on what it is, or what I should do? I don't really fancy driving it too far in case I cause too much damage?

Cheers!

I should think people will start telling you it's the cam or a finger follower but I'd just get the shims checked again first if I were you.

I thought that - I've had it before, a shim disintegrated, and it was tapping louder than Fred Astair.

I'll give the garage a bell today!

What's the correct way of checking and adjusting the chain tension? Would be useful to know as I now do most of my own servicing now.
