Hi all,

I am having a bit of trouble I am hoping you can help with.

I went out to my tuscan this evening to go for a run and the car started fine, as I was reversing out of the garage, I got a Code E message on the pod and shortly afterward the car stalled / stoped running and has refused to start since.

Can anyone tell me a bit more about this message i.e. how to fix it / would it cause this problem (the car was also recently subject to a heavy rain fall - straight onto the bonet due to a leaking roof)

Many Thanks

Barry

I would normally expect this code after a heavy shunt (an accident). There is a reset switch in the boot of the car behind the carpet. Push this and have a go again. If water HAS gotten into the electrics then you can try the arduaous task of spraying WD40 at just about every affected loomb connection on the car. Just one other thing...if the car is used thro the winter its wise to spray the connectors in the lower front engine bay area with WD40 anyway as they tend to corrode if left with no maintenance.
....good luck

Codes are as follows:-

A - Speedo sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
B - Speedo sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
C - Water level sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
D - Water level sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
E - Fuel level sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken
F - Fuel level sensor not releasing zero switch or switch broken
G - Water level sensor open circuit
H - Air temp sensor open circuit
I - Oil temp sensor open circuit
J - Oil pressure sensor open circuit
K - Fuel level sensor open circuit
L - Erratic road speed sensor input
O - No communications between analogue and control

Could be the connector has come off the level sensor, behind the flap in the boot. Although I doubt this is anything to do with the engine not re-starting. Sounds as though the engine has become flooded and/or the spark plugs fouled, leave it for a while & try and re-start it.

Thanks.

I retried it this morning and it started first time, I recon you were spot on. I must have flooded it, it did smell a bit petroly.

On another note how do you charge the battery on a tuscan i.e. is there any easy access to the battery.

Regards

There is no easy access to the battery on a Tuscan the N/S front wheel has to be removed to gain access to the panel covering the battery. Keep your keys to hand when you disconnect/re-connect the battery as the doors can lock themselves.

I had a similar problem which kept recurring. The fuel cut out switch was not fully conneted - if it is just slightly loose, but still working (if you get my meaning) you keep getting EFI faults and code E's. If it fully cuts out, you get no fuel. Might be worth giving it a really good wiggle to make sure it is fully connected and not come unseated.

As for charging I use an accumate charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Apparently their live so you can charge the battery that way.
