Hi,
Is there a way that the finger followers can be replaced without stripping te head down?
My engine has started making a prominent tap at the top and i suspect this is the followers. The engine had a full rebuild a year ago and has been looked after. Its got the modified valve seats and all the other work done to it. Should also of been the new followers.
Going to be ringing round tomorrow for prices and availability for the repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Mick

You can only shim with the engine in situ. Need to remove to get the front cover off to allow the cams to be withdrawn.

Mick, knowing how much was spent on that engine, I would have thought the garage that did the rebuild should be helping you out.

Interesting read, that thread from Kipper about the follower mods. Does anyone know how the engine is running now or if Kipper is still about?

Yes he is still about... Sold the Tuscan a month ago as I am planning on buying a new one very soon. When I sold the car the engine had done about 4k since the work was done with no problems at all. I serously miss the car at the moment (driving around in my daughters polo!)

Thanks for the update Chris, interesting stuff. I for one would be keen to investigate this mod further, I am also looking at the Raceproved SP6 cam-cover/pre-lubrication mod.

Cheers!

Well the verdict is back from Henley and it basically popped a big end. Somehow the bottom shell has worn and moved over the top one. Their not sure how its happened and have sent the conrod and crank away for further investigation. Should have something back soon.
Jason has said he will honour part of the costs as its only just out of warrenty, but I can't help thinking it will still be expensive. May just be that last straw.
