My stick fell off?

It's been getting a bit waggly for the last year or so, I just thought that's the way it is, as you do. Until, last week, I was checking my level and it seemed more waggly than usual, like the moment just before Uri Geller's spoon falls apart. "I better be careful with that" I told myself and gingerly replaced it in the tube.
Sod's law takes over and I accidentally let it drop the last few inches and lift the lid to find the stick has dropped off and into the tube. No problem, it's reachable, so I fish it out and rather than it being flared through a hole, it's got a teensy dollop of weld which is no longer holding it in place.
Looking at the underside of the screwcap, there's a rubber seal holding the plate with the hole, I'm wondering if the plate is easily removed or will it mangle the rubber
Now, I'm not a moaner, I'd just like to ask the panel if this has happened to anyone else and if so, what did you do about it?
Obviously there are two courses of action: Repair or replace. The tightwad in me fully expects the sharp intake of breath "Phwoar, a dipstick? That'll cost you sir" from my nearest 'pusher'. So, I'm thinking I could get some local Johnny with aluminium welding facility to gob it back on as long as I can persuade the flange away from the rubber.

What do you think?

I know, it's a heck of a waffle about nothing at all, but it's Friday and the alternative is I can go and put some doors on the kitchen units or grout a tile.

Believe this or not but, one of my Cerbera mates had his dipstick fall off from the cap and is now held on with No Nails (thats the glue stuff) and it has been like this for more than six months so as daft as it seems may be the cure.
Strange but true.

I seem to think that's a common woe on the Tuscan - first I've heard of it on a T350.

Bit of superglue and it will be as good as new

A new dipstick is £838 plus VAT and delivery. They are only available from Shmeisserdipstickenwerk gmbh in Baden-Baden and no stocks are currently available.

Personally I use a piece of dowelling.

This happened to my previous T350. I bought a product from halfords, liquid metal or something similar, temp resistant to 400 Deg C. It worked a treat.

Dont use no nails as the heat will get to it eventually
