Conrod failure
Discussion
Funnily enough they're more likely to snap when you've rebuilt it .. there's extra loading on the rod in tension at the top of the exhaust/ pulling down onto the inlet stroke just as you let off the throttle at high revs and create a very low pressure on the piston top (made even more so 'cos you've just rebuilt the engine hopefully to a good spec and the ring sealing is better than before ..), this coupled with the fact that the SP6 rod has a very heavy little end means they are something you should defo change if you're building an engine that's going to be revved (and if you have a sports car that's what you want to be able to do).
Speak to Dave at TVR Craft about their uprated rods .. as you've built a few AJP engines already he'll probably sell you the parts to do the work yourself. As far as i'm aware they're the only uprated rod available .. ?

I have spoken to craft I just wanted to find out how much of a weak link they are . I have looked at the rods and the small end is very heavy but they could probably be machined to lose some weight as I believe they are a steel forging .
I believe the Sag and possibly the Tuscan 2 rods are forged, but the Tuscan 1 are certainly cast.
