what percentage?
Discussion
i'm looking at a 1999 cerb speed six around 30k miles. it runs fine at the moment. what are the percentage odds that it will go in the next 10k miles? is every origninal speed six engine doomed to failure?
are some original S6's actually successful engines?

What work has the engine received. General wisdom seems to be that you are doing well to reach 30k with no work. Unfortunately relatively few hard facts to inform this. There was a spreadsheet of engine failures somewhere on here a while back
the service history is very patchy although service work has been done by harrogate horseless and once by an indie called top marques i think. as a result any info on engine work is non-existent. i'm just taking this to mean that non has been done.
the book wasn't even stamped! although a covering letter from harrogate horseless documents the services
total risk i know...just very tempting because of a range of factors (will pay a fair price for my exisiting car, near to me, perfect colour combination, missus likes it)
Ask if you can have it checked over by a TVR dealer, as you intend taking out a TVR appproved warranty. It will cost about £150, but EVERYTHING will be checked, and a list of items needing work proir to warranty being granted will be provided. This has several advantages - you know exactly what you're letting yourself in for; It gives you a chance to chat to HHC about the car's history; if the owner refuses to let you do this, it's obviously dodgy, so walk away; iy will allow you to haggle over the price if there's a lot of work needing doing.
