new car questions

i have has my s6 for 2 weeks and really enjoying it and have decided it saunds as good as a v8 just different. I jst cant help but worry this this engine is going to explode on me. when i get over 5.5k revs oil light comes on. i have made sure oil lvl is perfect but the light still comes on, when i ease off it goes out. oil pressure sits at about 35 - 40 and doesnt change when the light comes on. is this a warning that the engine is about to go? what other signs should i look out for? im at 17.5k miles and it runs smoothly. im after reassurance please! also is it true that green is the fsatest? laswt car was blue and a 4.0v8... not as fast....

Jon,

as per my reply on the Cerb forum I suggest you try replacing the oil pressure sender - if it's original spec then it is quite likely unreliable. I replaced mine a few weeks ago with the latest unit - I used to get the occasional flickering red light but not since.
