Oil light in 3rd gear?!?!?!?!

This is a strange situation and I wonder if its happen to anyone else? In the last few weeks whilst stretching the Tuscans legs i've notice that whilst in third gear at approx 4000/5000 revs the oil light starts to come on. Every time this has happened i,ve checked the oil and its fine (max). Any ideas what this can be?

Dodgy oil pressure sensor or impending engine doom. Probably just the sensor but get it checked asap.

Mine did this a while back (After rebuild and run in) It was the oil pressure sensor. Rather worrying though. Should have seen me lift off the throttle.... It was like woaaahh, that's not good. Get it checked fella. One thing mine also did was the Oil pressure was very erratic on the POD display, another known symptom.

Get to dealer - check pressure - probably OK

Get them to change the oil pressure sensor to the new type and add the extra earth cable

Should sort it, UNLESS you have a loom fault or need updated pod hardware

same thing happened to mine and it was the head gasket, is it using alot of water ? have it checked asap.

The car was serviced 2 months ago and a new oil pressure sensor was fitted so it can't be that. With regard to the water all is fine, I will get in touch with my local garage and get it checked out.

I had the same problem with my previous Tuscan after the oil pressure sender had been replaced.The oil pressure warning is derived from oil pressure/engine speed, a further replacement sender was fitted and all was OK.

I agree, from experience it’s most likely the sender, even if you’ve just had a new one fitted. They are notoriously crap. I went through 5 in 3 months until TVR Power fitted a different type and the problem stopped.

Just spoke to phil cooper at TVR barnet and he confirmed that it's a faulty batch of sensors!!!

Batch my ar5e, they've had faulty batches since the advent of the Speed Six engine. I thought they'd fixed the leaking with the recent redesign (5-6 months ago ish)...

Finally got one that works and doesn't leak.I have honestly lost count of the number I've been through so have Phill and Mark at Barnet ut all is well now.

If tis the same batch of sensors, then it is also the same batch that was put in mine after I had the sensor replaced in February 2005!!!

Either a problem which isnt fixed, or a dodgy batch that is knowingly *still* being fitted into peoples cars more than a year later.

What is the second connection on the 'new type' of sender? If it's an earth how was the original earthed? Should I be making up a earth lead and connecting it somewhere?
