Hi

I am considering getting a Speed 6 engined TVR, after reading this and all the other boards I was just wondering if there was any off the shelf diagnostic tools available to check all is working ok?!

I know there are the multiple brand systems garages use but is there anything like the VAG COM?

Cheers

Stethascope, a brilliant gadget, tried this on Alan Birch's engine, you can hear the oil, as well as pin point loud shims.

ECU data is encrypted so you can't use an OBDII reader.

can can buy a serial cable from clevortrevor and others for about 40 quid, just connect to your laptop. There is software out there for the Cerb s6 at least, i'm assuming the tuscan is also compat but someone in the know will need to confirm that.

Needs a dealer to plug into it using their licensed interface software wot they won't let you have a copy of not no how no way.

You're talking about the Easimap MBE software - no?

Won't work.

TVR deliberately went for encrypted ecu software.

Moneyspinner to keep ecu fiddling as a dealer only option - and costs the dealers a lot of dosh to get the necessary diagnostic gear to be able to do servicing.

I've got the TVR software for a SP6. I'll upload it later and post a link to it.

Oh, a normal RS232 cable works fine from maplin if your using the 9pin sockets

Cheers
