My lump is a little camy on start up and their is a follower or two which is overdue a readjustment. I am intending to wack the rocker cover off next weekend and have a butchers at the cam for wear, whilst in there adjust the the followers for now and order parts if required?

However what are the clearances? and potential pitfalls if any?

thanks

Paul you dont by any chance watch Eastenders do you?!?

Don't wish to post a negative but I think you will find it difficult to get the shims you will need to make any clearance adjustments. The shims are specific to TVR and from what I gather dealers dont supply them.....however someone else in better authority may advise you otherwise of where to get them.... Clearances are as follows (info taken from an earlier PH post) 0.006" to 0.008 " inlet and 0.08" to 0.12 " exhaust

Cool number plate by the way

Good luck

Paul here's a shim out of my engine. (What they look like.)

What does it sound like when warm? It might be fine!!!!

You might be able turn turn them over, but I would be careful they dont pop out at high RPM

You will need two alen keys, and a sharp knife to get to the cams, buy some black gasket sealer ready for bolting it back up.

I have the top losely fitted to my spare engine if you want to drop by for a ganders.

Er No!

I just get sick of hearing maindealer, its not rocket science is it, just nut and bolts. And in fairness I have not seen anything yet in my short ownership which impresses me, just about everything I have looked at so far, I could do better myself lashed up and blindfolded

Still love it though! And all the owners are good people.

Justin its fine when up to 80 temp wise, again perhaps I am being to pedantic?

Just want to stay on top of it, prevention is better then cure!

I'm no techie.

However, the S6 does tend to sound rough when first started up.
My solution was to buy carbon cans. Now i cant hear anything.

in my experience, if it's just sounds tappity or noisy from the top of the engine when cold it's probably ok. If there is a ticking or tapping noise which does or does not go away when hot, then its best to get it checked.

Good luck.

A local precision engineering shop could easily make up the shims on a small swing grinder if you could get the correct material. I would say the hardest part is finding out what they're made of, not actually getting them made.
