Guys

Just had my sevice and it's been pointed out that there is a little bit (and I stress little but) of cam shaft wear. I'm know that this can be a warning for a re-build, does anyone know if it's just possible to replace the cam shaft and followers before anthing more expensive occurs?

Thanks

In normal cars, yes. In Speed Sixes - I think so, but I'm not a TVR engine expert. Top end rebuild at worst though.

Speak to Autocraft about their redesigned camshaft and followers.

Agree with Tusc-Al.

Dave at TVR Craft will give you straight advice. FWIW I believe that you can replace the finger followers without hauling the engine out but I would advise checking the entire valve train if the experts recommend.

Feel free to email me through profile if you'd like further info as I've recently had my head re-built and modified by TVR Craft.

Hi guys

Looking at this thread with real interest!

reason being mine is starting to sound Camy on start up, I am no TVR expert however I imagine a quick cam and follower replacement should suffice? Or should i say, well it does with all other cars?

let me know how you get on though, If i get to look at mine first then I will give you feedback on what a bh it was to do!

I understand that you may need to remove the engine to change the finger followers. An indy dealer suggests that their mounting bar extracts from the back of the engine. Not nice and easy like the old cosworth engines with Half moon seals on the front. however looking at the picture of Justin's engine I can't see why this is so as the back of the engine is blanked?

Based on looking inside my brother's noisey engine this weekend, if the cams are worn then the fingers will need replacing too.

It's also very tight (but aparently just possible) to get the front damper and timing chain cover off the front of the engine.
