T350 more reliable than Tuscan Mk1?
Discussion
The mark 1 Tuscan and S6 cerbera were the first cars with the S6 engine. There was a problem with finger followers and valve guides with some cars built in that time frame, all of those cars were 4.0 litre cars. The Tamora came on the scene in 2001 with the 3.6 version of the S6. That has been carried into the T350. Because many of the first order failures had been worked out by 2001 - 2002 the Tamora and T350 have a better percieved reliability than the Mk 1 Tuscan. However I suspect a properly built Mk1 can be every but as reliable, or not, as a T350. No body really knows if the S6 is now fixed, or if it is just when the fixes were made. All we can say is that as a rule the newer ones do seem better. All IMHO of course.
Someone involved in rebuilding speed 6's commented on another thread that changes had definately been made to the speed 6. There are also some pictures proving some changes on the speed 6 forum.
As to their effectiveness in fixing issues, no-one really knows.
My 18k mile '04 T350 has been great though.

The valve guide problems where still there on mid 2002 3.6 engines. I know from expensive experience.
And they were also still there (thankfully occasionally) on mid-2003 Tuscans as well.....as I also know from personal experience

Probably because they didnt make T350's in 2000 and 2001.
I think this is the factor which makes the salesmans statement true. I am not saying that later cars have not needed rebuilds, but the fact is per car, they have not needed as many, most likely because pretty much most 2000-2001 SP6 has needed one.
As I understand that the engine is exactly the same for a T350 and a Tuscan that came out of the factory at the same time, I feel that the factor unrepentant points out is the major factor which changes the statistic.
