Hi everyone, looking at a series of Tuscans this weekend and two have done around 25k with no major engine troubles on X/W plates. Is this a good or bad omen? I've flicked through a number of posts on here but i'm still lost.

Accepted wisdom would be that a car of that age would have required finger followers and / or valve guides by about 15K so this was a good one no matter what. If you can get the car at the right price then I think you can have them checked over and get a TVR warranty to cover any problems that might happen. Probably best to get it checked before you part with the cash.

If the TVR warranty thing is a no goer then see if you can offset the price of the car by an acceptable compromise on an engine repair cost....say 2.25K less; leaving you 2.25k to bank for a future, incase the engine goes pop. 5K min to sort a goosed S6.....(the math works if you get my drift...)

Also ask about clutch - good chance it would have been replaced at 20k (several have), so 25k puts it potentially in the zone of a new clutch. Not a rule however...

Hmm, also read that the gearbox can go around 30k too! Fun fun! I come from Italian car ownership so this doesn't bother me, all part of the fun I suppose!

Yep, can vouch from personal experience that the clutch and indeed gearbox can need replacing at 24000 miles!!!!!

I vouch for that too, clutch at almost exactly 24k. I also had suspension at 25k, alternator at 26k and radiator at 27k.

Those would be the main things I would look out for at that mileage. That said, if all of those things have been done, you should be ok for another 25k.
