Hi All
Well this is my first post on this awesome webstite (congrats to the people that make ut happen) so I shall try and keep it brief! I bought a 2000 Tuscan 4.0 S6 in August of this year and have had a few minor niggles with it - battery, seals, brakes and some lights but apart from that........WOW! I smile every time I start the engine & have a high bank account of "smiles for miles". The car has done about 26K (24k when i bought it) and I was told when i bought it that it had not had a rebuild.

After reading lots and lots of the content on PH, I am starting to think that the Tuscan may of had some sort of rebuild as it has the following sticker on the the Vehicle Identification plate in the boot:

"UPRIGHT RECALL COMPLETE"

Can anyone shed some light on this as I keep reading peoples posts on rebuilds and that the car should not last past 20k etc? I just want to find out if a) my beautiful Tuscan has had a rebuild & b) should I start to panic if it hasnt! I do have a warrenty on it so hopefully if there are any problems (fingers crossed there are not) then I will be able to sort through that.

Well not as short as i hoped but hopefully someone can answer / help me!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Dan

At a guess and it is a guess I would have thought "upright" may be refering to suspension uprights? That is the only upright that I can think of on a car?

My 2000 Cerb had the same recall work done. It was suspension/steering related and not engine.

Hope you're enjoying the Tuscan.

All Tuscans of this age had the suspension up-rights replaced,or should have and it is shown that they have with a sticker on the VIN plate. The orignal ones which were the same on the Cerbra had corrosion problems.

Enjoy your Tuscan I certainly do even after five+ years theres nothing like them or the Speed 6 engine for puting a smile on your face.

Dan - good to see another SW London Tuscan owner - hope to see you around the area in the coming months. You will find PH a great resource for most of the niggles and other issues arising as part of your ownership - has helped me a lot.

I believe you can get the history of the car by writing to the factory, which will show if any engine rebuild work has been done. Not sure of the details though.

Hey Rev..........yep bought in SW London from a dealer. Not the best guys to buy a TVR from I would say but I had some superb advice / overview from a TVR Specialist in Guilford. The Garage, owned by David, gave it the once over!
