12500 miles - no problems.

I expect it to go wrong somewhere between 17,000 and 30,000 miles

Hate to be the first naysayer here , but Aug 2003 3.6li required rebuild in Aug this year. 10,900 miles approx - rebuilt under warranty thankfully. Reason? - I quote letter from factory -

"engine was returned to the factory as the valve seats were found to be burnt out. The engine was therefore stripped and rebuilt with a reworked cylinder head, including cams, valves and followers and also new con rods, crank bearings and piston rings".

Running in now well complete (up to almost 4k miles on new engine) and all appears well (touch wood). Big shame rebuild came in summer...good to see I appear to be in a very small minority re rebuilds (not good for me, but good for the marque).

Feb 03 - 11K miles T350C - 3.6 standard.

Just had 12K service and coolant system check by 2 different dealers and then pressure problems. Diagnosis indicated a warped head. No sensor warnings to indicate any abnormal behaviour prior to when steam vented from pressure cap; yet the signs, after the engine was removed, indicated that this was a problem that had exisited for sometime.

Head has now been reskimmed but there have been many problems getting it all working properly again.

Car off road for 7 weeks now; engine has been out 3 times; latest difficulty - engine block needs to be machined as one of the head bolt holes requires re-tapping. I have been informed that the engine had been previously worked on, probably by the factory, but the records are very vague.

Not being negative, I have been a TVR owner for over 4 years. Cant wait to get back in. But also realistic. Cost of this fix will be close to £3K and I will, for a while at least, be very nervous anticipating another drastic failure.

Engine rebuilt in July 2002 with complete new head, cams, followers etc. Approx 24k miles since with no problems, but has consistently used oil at 1 litre/1k miles since rebuild.

When I bought my first Tus in 2003 HHC told me to expect it to use oil up to 1 Litre / 1k miles. The first one used a bit of oil, maybe 1 Litre / 3k miles but the current one hardly uses any at all.

Don't think my Oct 02 Tuscan S has used any oil at all. Not sure though
as the oil pressure sensor has a slight leak (surprise surprise) that I didn't notice until
recently. (Only small leak as none on garage floor).

September 2003 3.6, now at 25,000 miles with no noises, oil consumption, or historical problems. Last two 6,000 mile services had a tappet check and they were within tolerances both times.
