The Tam is just fabulous. I need to get around to taking some snaps of the car, unfortunately this time of year it seems to be continuously dirty.
As for checking the oil, I bought myself some long gardeners gloves which I keep in the boot specifically for this purpose. So far I've never had any problems with burns, although I've come close a couple of times.

Ours hasn't either. I was told that it might start to consume oil after 6K miles. I must confess to not checking it every week however.
That depends if they change it fully synthetic oil ,if they do it will use some.
My Tuscan always did around 800 miles/litre after 6K service on fully synthetic oil. After top end up-grade at 20K miles & switch to 10W40 Semi-synthetic oil has used virtually none in the last 7.5K miles.

Since my rebuild 2500 miles ago I have NOT put any oil in the engine. At first it's worrying. But I shall not be complacent and will continue to check, it's just that before the rebuild I put in a litre after every 400 miles. No oil consumption ... not natural..but GOOD!
