Hi Rev,
mine was due back by now but I've decided to have the clutch attended to aswell whilst the car was in half (and we all know the situation with clutch supply!).
Hopeful to see the car back in a couple of weeks and I believe that Ian (Red Rose) car is imminently due for completion.

The guys found some problems with the main bearing caps when they started to build my block up a couple of weeks ago. These had to be sent away for crack testing (they were OK), and the block line bored.
This has put things back a few weeks, but they were starting to build the head up when I spoke to them this morning.
If nothing else goes wrong, the engine should be back together by the end of next week, and back in the car and running during the following week.
It has been a bit frustrating, but I guess it shows the integrity of Dave and Alistair at Autocraft that they were prepared to delay completion of the job and risk upsetting me rather than turning a blind eye to a potential problem.
They are also working on a T350 that needed a top end rebuild – they are hoping this will be running next week so may be the first with the head mods.
Will keep you updated !

This has put things back a few weeks, but they were starting to build the head up when I spoke to them this morning.
If nothing else goes wrong, the engine should be back together by the end of next week, and back in the car and running during the following week.

Speak to Dave Davis at Autocraft on 01722 411118 – but please don’t chat for too long and distract them as they should be busy building my engine up !
Things were delayed again due to problems sourcing a couple of oil seals. These are due in today so it should be full steam ahead to get the job finished and back on the road by next weekend.

Hope to get mine back next time I am home between Xmas n New year. As Ash says tho, not the best time of the year to put it back on the road even tho I'll only have half of his monster power.....EEK!
But look at it this way....its a real good time to send your P&J on holiday to Wiltshire for a proper work over and a new toy for next spring.....Go on give Dave a ring you know it makes sense...Look upon it as a chrimbo prezzy to you an your motor.

after initial tests are successful, we're gonna run 2 bar, thats around 1300 at the fly Its a good job Dave has a clutch man handy now, she'll be eating them for breakfast! And I've got plans for meth injection and NOS....
I'm currently Daves WORST nightmare! My current nickname = Ash 'moves the goalpost' headache! lol
I love big Dave, he's like an uncle to me, whenever I speak to him, no matter how irritating I can be, he always has time for me!
I did hear theres gonna be around 3 rolling out THIS week!
I think they've finally built up their inventory, so it looks like they can build the SP6 engine from block upwards using all their own designed parts... lurvleee!!!!!
It would be very good for TVR if they worked with Dave and his team... factory seems to have totally ignored Daves work, their loss really, having a man like Dave on their side would be heavenly for TVR owners... his background and knowledge would be a godsend if TVR brought in his experience and knowledge... I wish an association takes place, because with Nobles and the new Marcos eating the same pie, TVR need men like Dave!!!

I totally agree, but sadly I'm sure TVR wont want to have anything to do with Dave and his team because of their associations with Mr Melling
Thats the thing I dont understand.
Melling did so much for TVR, being the original designer of all the current TVR engines, he helped TVR out of the dark ages. The powerful flat-v8, the mighty speed 6, the speed 12, melling was there all the way... whatever happened in the past in Wheelers era should be bygones, why cant Nikolai just mend the bridge... makes me sad, Melling is one of our countries best assets, TVR MUST bring the man back on board!!!!

Melling loves TVR cars, he would be more than happy being involved with TVR again... I guess he will just be more careful about 'gentlemans agreements' this time... but how many other engine designers do we have in the UK at Melling's level today?
If TVR do decide to go foreign with their engines, it'll be a heart-breaking story, well for some and for me it will be... the speed 8 and speed 6 engines ARE TVR!
If TVR mean to develop a replacement for the Cerbera, in particular one with a V8. Then it would seem, that unless they utilise an outsourced power plant, they may have to turn to MCD.
By this I mean, as Ash has pointed out. MCD own the right to the 32 valve head.
Now without four valves, any perspective TVR v8, if it is to be a derivative of the existing Speed 8 will not be inline for emissions regulations.
I don’t know the in’s and out’s of this, though it would surely be restrictive to NC’s plans for expansion into the European and American markets.
Maybe they can do as bikes do and map for emissions with cats, allowing users to remap and decat for full power?
It would be an excellent ending however if Nic could put all the crap to one side and talk to Al.

A TVR with an unreputed reliable heart, I am certain would acheive this. It would still take time to develop a dealership network over there and a yank V8 in a TVR certainly isn't my desire. But I believe it would be the right move for TVR in order to get the ball rolling ....Of course this would destroy the heritage that has made the TVR mark, so well respected this side of the pond.
I believe the Nobles leave South Africa minus engine and transmission. They were being marketed in the US just as that. The prospective purchaser then is offered an option of Yank power plants. I don't believe this is a way to go towards cracking the US market for volume sales and I am sure TVR have considered this.
From what I have read in the motoring press the S6 issues have yet to tarnish TVR's reputation. The press have not latched onto the problems as yet and are still giving the Tuscan2, Tuscan Conv, Sag and the other S6 based motors very good reports. Despite my experiences IMO, if you desire individualism with performance and excitment TVR's pound for penny provide the best value there is out there. But there are others starting to compete for this fold Ash has named 2 very likely succesors....TVR take HEED and do something about it.....please
