Post here if you've -not- had a rebuild!
Discussion
Thought it might be interesting to see how many cars have done a 'reasonable mileage' without serious engine trouble.(Been reading JB,s excellent thread on his engine rebuild ) Tempting fate but i'll start.
Sept 03 tuscan. 9500m Bought with 6000m. in june 05.
Recent check and no probs. Uses virtually no oil(maybe 1/2 Li in 3500m)Cam chains noisy but beleive this is normal. I'm not suggesting 91/2K is high mileage, it's a case of so far so good.

Well if we're getting down to this sort of mileage then my car ought to join the list!
05 Sagaris
4300 miles
0 engine problems of any kind
It may be worth pointing out that Caterham specify rebuilds on their R500 engine every 3000 track miles, or 9000 road miles. They tell you this up front. No one has a problem accepting it. The engine and performance is worth it.
And they aren't cheap cars either at around 35k new.

I am just venting my frustration.
I dont think that we sould accept that we should only expect 30,000 tops before we need to take the engine out and rebuild it. German manufacturers manage 400HP power plants that last considerably longer.
The TVR speed six is a modern engine with modern engineering all through it. The bottom half is lovely, the top end has just been made wrong, and I (and others) think TVR should admit this, and supply us with a recommended fix, or at least be more helpful than giving a two fingered salute!
GO ON TVR GIVE IT A KICK!
I am pretty angry about mine, and the response I have had from TVR, so appologies, its not aimed at anyone in here.
