MyEngine has been at TVR Power for last month. They have yet to look at it to see what the problem is. Who else is in the queue and what excuses have you had?

My engine blew a couple of weeks ago, and I was told by TVR Power that they would not be able to look at it until September, hence its down in Speed six Engine Tech and should be picking her up next weekend.

Myself and Dom would like to take this opportunity to firstly apologise, and secondly, explain what is happening with the engines.
As you aware, the factory no longer carry out certain jobs, ie servicing / crash repair etc, and this has increased our work load dramatically, we are currently looking for new staff but we dont want to employ just any old garage mechanic, after all..these are your cars we are looking after!
We could in all honesty rush more engines through to keep people happy, but a big part of our reputation is for engines...correctly built and in most cases reliable. We are not prepared to sacrifice that reputation for the sake of fast turnaround or a quick buck.
We are currently looking at measures to improve this situation, but in the meantime, unfortunately there will be a delay in getting engines built.
If anyone would like to discuss any problems they may have with the time scales or reluctance to rush the work through, then please feel free to contact me.
Thanks

Don't suppose you are going to advise us how many s6 engines are in the queue. If only to give the people the info about how long they will have to wait, to allow them the opportunity to take the engine elsewhere for a rebuild.

Also are you seeing any 04 engines that need rebuilding.

Off topic - Ever considered supercharging a griff/chim?

Hi Barry,

Griff blower is happening now, should have results in a month or two, we will of course be posting here when its ready!
Hopefully there will be two options (one for the brave, one for the really brave! )
As for S6 waiting times etc, please call me direct.
Thanks

Excellent news on the supercharger, through it might mean I no longer want to get a tuscan

Seriously though what is the newest engine you've had to rebuild?

That's interesting. Do you know what warranty you will get when you get it back.. imho You should really push to get it extended to 3 years/36kmiles like a current T350C. Assuming it is being rebuilt to an identical spec as a current t350c, and of course if not, why not.

Best of Luck.

No idea! It was a dealer loaner with only 6k on the clock!

Barry,

I was thinking about this the other day...I have an early Tuscan so it is a case of when, rather than if, I will have to make a choice about where I get an engine rebuild.

If TVR (or TVR Power) were to offer a 3 year/36k warranty then I would head to them. If not then I would possibly go the Autocraft route.

Indeed, if I were to pay for a rebuild to current Sagaris spec (mine is a 4.0 engine), then why shouldn't I get a 3 year warranty? I accept this may mean upgrading other engine components than just those that need it.

It would be an attractive option (depending on the price of course!)

If I'm about to need a 5k rebuild I think I'd be seriously considering finding a crashed nearly new TVR and paying 6-7k for a near brand new engine. Pick it up from the scrappers and pay an indie to drop it into the car.
