Guys, I tried fitting a new starter yesterday, got it all stripped except the lower bolt on the starter which will only turn about 3 turns then goes solid. Tried taking it in and out loads of times which helped a bit but still goes solid. First though is that the thread is damaged which will mean engine out! Anyone got any ideas I can try? Cheers.

Have you tried a release oil?
Give it a good soaking, leave for an hour or two, then apply some torque by extending the Allen key?
Next would be to try some heat....Havent done this myself,,,,,,but did put copperslip on cap bolts when I reassembled mine.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply nick, I have used loads of wd40 with no luck and have an Allen key socket on a socket set. Will give it another go at the weekend and if that doesnt work then it's off to the garage!

Try some proper penetrating oil rather than WD40.
