carbon airbox help please ..
Discussion
i need some help please fitting the act-box in my tam ..
the upper part has all fittings but the lower part is undrilled.
i removed yesterday the original lower and now how to install and where should i drill the holes ?
(i dont't like to get the box drilled like swiss emmentaler-cheese, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmental_cheese)
is the act- box exactly same size because when i hold them together i'm not sure ..
advice very appreciated !

thank you,
i spoke with tim days before and he told me that i should start with the front hole in the lower case .. (but even this is "dangerous" for me as the drilled hole could be wrong)
but i thought that somebody that has done it could tell me how to go further.
at the moment the box is "fitted" with the lower part just sitting on the big airhose ..

It was quiet a long time ago when I fitted mine, thought I had some photos but they were only of the first one Tim supplied which un-fortunatly did not fit due to slight differences in the later models. I assume this is similar to the Tuscan in it's lower fixings i.e.
From memory I trial fitted the air box with masking tape on the lower half near the mounting points removed the top half and then marked the holes through the brackets. I think the holes were 6mm and the fixings 5mm with large washers so a fair bit of clearance there.

When I fitted mine I did the following:
Raised the car in the air and removed the undertray
Removed the old airbox, big lower pipe and the fixings
Re-attached the aircon fixing to their mount on the car
Placed masking tape on the airbox in areas where the mount points are
Fitted new airbox in place
Went under car and traced outline of mount points and holes, leaned into engine bay and did the same with the aircon mount (used a very small pencil for aircon mount)
Checked and rechecked I was happy with markings
Removed airbox and Drilled holes
Refitted parts
Admired airbox
Eta: you can get the rear airbox mount from tvrpower.

Question for the folks with the ACT CF Airbox. How did you mount the air sensor and vacumn connectors? Wanted to Rivnut them in but the thread is an M10 with a rise of 1.25 mm which is almost unheard of for an M10. Looks like I'm either going to have to get something manufactured or just silicone them in place. Don't want to risk the chance of nuts getting sucked into the engine, but any constructive ideas (Mention of nuts being sucked will no doubt draw a crowd!) would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Unable to offer any advice but am amazed that something that costs as much as these do does not arrive pre drilled and as a minimum with comprehensive instructions.
i asked tim and got the top-box complete ready to use, so with 10mm drilled hole for airsensor the oil breather (19mm) glued and both vac-hose tails, also glued.the only thing was to do the 4 holes for the brackets.
bottom-box was undrilled as it depends to the given situation but as posted before no problem to use it situated on the big airhose only.
today i looked again after and just fixed the front bracket to support the box from below.
beside this the act bottom box is a little shorter than the original.
p.s. duff-man: thank you, very !
