Having very successfully completed machining my throttle bodies out to accept very high quality SKF sealed bearings I am offering this service to other speed six engined owners.
It has made a large difference to the drive ability of my car as many of you will know who have already had this done.
Due to the low overheads in my workshop I can offer this at a very competitive price to TVR owners on Pistonheads.
I will also be offering the gaskets that make a much more reliable seal while preventing heat soak, also CNC machined as soon as I get the material supplier finalised.
I am not a business but am happy to offer this service at a considerable saving over 'specialist' Tvr workshops.
I would also be interested in any suggestions for other TVR parts being made. I'm currently looking at the frankly awful bits of bent aluminium that just about hold the air box in place. A piece of billet ally (titanium?) cnc machined with perhaps a logo would be a much aesthetically improved option.
Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Andy.

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately I've just had mine done. But I would strongly recommend the service to any speed six owners and if they can save a few bob it's a no brainer.
I bought an alloy cap cover for my water bottle at some considerable cost .... May be worth you looking into those sort of accessories.
Good luck
D

Thanks Darren, kind words.
I'll have to get busy on my PC and draw some bits up.

Plenum spacers for RV8's and blended 45mm trumpet bases are good starts Andy. I have a standard plenum and trumpet base in the garage if you want to use it as a template. Also, nice shiny pulleys are always a winner. No performance gain but they look good!

Hi Chris.
I was going to shout you about looking at your throttle body this week. I was thinking about those plenum bases. Could open them out to ~45mm and put a radius on them instead of using trumpets. A stage up from that could be blending the inlet manifold in to match.
Are you at Walmer on Sunday?

How about modelling/developing a shift gate for the T5. Could anodise it a gold colour to match the Tuscan switch gear.

Now that is bloody lovely. I started drawing one for my chim a couple of years ago but lost interest when I sold the car. I was looking at having a flat piece of carbon around the hand brake/ gear lever (to match my dash pod) the anodised ally would work well with it.

Liking m4tti s suggestion! Dont forget when doing sp6 stuff that the sp6 Cerb is different & gets overlooked for many parts as suppliers say its not worth doing a big run of stuff for it.Gap in the market there is.

I might try to model one over winter in ply and see how difficult it is to get the shift pattern correct.

Getting the gate right as you say is the tricky bit. As you say make one up in mdf or ply first. I'm guessing that would be the same give or take for any T5 'box then the outside shape could be changed to suit personal taste and the model of the car.

Sadly not. I planned to be, but have a job on in London. Apparently there are a few Tivvers heading over. Look out for Rob in his red Chim 500 (turboBob). A nice example! How are you fixed after Tuesday?

To be sure for the future I drop a box of Throttle Bodies off in Dover to modify. Andy was very helpfull with this pick up and return service and after my Holiday in the UK I received them back with the Spindlebearing for a fair price. For foreign Customers ideal because Andy is living in Dover nearby the Boat and Eurotunnel. He made a good job of it , and with his Toolingshop ideal for further TVR Modifications.
F.e. a better Design of the Enginemounts, Parts made from Alu instead of rusting Steel? Who has a Wishlist?
Thanks Andy!
