4.5 SuperSport Power Run Graph -- Non Decatted
Discussion
I had my bespoke mapping today, followed by Power run with Jason and Dom at Power Performance.
Configuration Tuscan 'S' convertible, standard exhaust with cats, ACT airbox with trumpets,3:73 diff otherwise standard. Comparision with a "Good" Standard 4 litre non decatted Tuscan (there were alot much worse and not all Tuscans). Cats do degrade all performance considerably.

At the risk of getting flamed, that torque graph looks very good, but the power graph doesn't... After bespoke mapping of my 4.0 de-catted Sag at Powers Performance I got virtually the same BHP graph as you (in fact 369bhp max) but the TORQUE curve of the lower graph ...
Seems a bit wierd.
Seems a bit wierd.
We (Jason and I) reckonned the cats were causing a loss of between 40-50 BHP comparing various other power runs.
However looking at some 4 litre Decatted runs, not all gave good figures. So there are good and bad engines.
The standard exhaust on a Tuscan however does give better figures that a standard exhaust on a Sag .
Maybe one day I'll get the cats removed... but I don't want MOT issues with emmisions and I don't often hit 6000 revs .

You should use Racing Green Sports cats, they will give you 30 of these horses back without the MOT problem. However looking at some 4 litre Decatted runs, not all gave good figures. So there are good and bad engines.

My decatted Tuscan 4.0 non s with Power rebuild showed 366bhp, so very close to the top graph and to your Sag.Seems a bit wierd.
Cats are robbers of power

Can you put the graph up on here ? a non S @ the wheels on Powers dyno? I saw one which didn't make 300 bhp.Cats are robbers of power
I suppose if you add 40 bhp to the 4 litre catted graph , you're at the same as mine. But you won't match the torque .

I guess the thing I am not certain of if whether there were upgrades on the rebuild as it was done about 6 months before I bought the car. But I do recall the print outs to the extent that I can see them in my head. Dom also said it was pretty good
Decatting reduces torque ? Please explain.
I think comparing the two graphs is what you would expect when comparing two cars both with cats ... or are you saying both cars have cat problems ?
Having experienced the airflow and exhaust flows at 6500 revs I can't see my cats being blocked . Burning hydrocarbons with a 15:1 oxygen ratio creates a lot of exhaust gases.

Did you not do some RR runs at power with your old engine before the upgrade for comparison?

^^ and in any case the cats aren't that restrictive .. I've no idea where numbers of 40-50bhp gains come from decatted, try 7 or 8 hp!
That was also my understanding, and doesn't decatting also bring the torque down?Maybe its got a blocked cat????
Had my mechanic take it out for a test drive today... He was very impressed... driveability means a lot more to me than numbers.
Those standard 4 litre Sags are very poor . Loads more torque with a Tuscan .
Doms 5 Litre vs a 4 Litre Sag .. I think TVR told a few lies.
