A Fool and his TVR – Both now fixed by TVR Power
Discussion
After a number of failed attempts at supercharging my 2003 TVR Tuscan S over the last 10 years, I finally came to my senses and called Dom Trickett at TVR Power to help……(pull me out of the sh*te).
Some people in life eventually find out the right way after spending some time learning the hard way…. In the case of my TVR I am most certainly one of those numpties. However, I have never walked away from a project, even a money pit project, failure is not an option and whilst I admit to having significantly changed my project goal in going from forced induction back to N/A, I did at least stick with the car and opted for TVR Powers 4.5 Litre upgrade.. A decision I absolutely wish I had made so long ago (OK so there was no 4.5 Litre engine available back then… but TVR Power was there…).
Dom took delivery of my car 2 years ago and basically condemned everything that had been done (except agreeing that the previous engine rebuild had been performed expertly by STR8SIX whom were in no way to blame for the failings of others (A tuning company in North East and me for sending the car there).
TVR Power basically junked everything bar the exhaust manifolds/system, gearbox, diff, oil tank and rads and put the car back to more or less above standard; fit for their 4.5 motor. They did the job as a fall back project to keep costs to a minimum, this suited my wallet and my time schedule as I live and work overseas, visiting UK maybe once or twice a year only.
My wife and I picked the car up recently from TVR Power in Coventry and embarked on a 1500 mile run in that took us through some awesome British countryside comprising the Yorkshire Dales, Keilder Forrest, Royal Deeside, Glencoe, Fort William, Isle of Skye, Apple Cross, Inverness (of course Loch Ness), Pitlochery, Perth, Stirling, and down to Teesside (you would be surprised at the beauty of the countryside around Teesside). The car performed awesome even limited to 4K rpm, dropping from 5th to 4th was always more than enough for rapid over taking the torque under 4K rpm is amazing. I confess to hearing a few phantom rattles but then that was all in my head and only to be expected given my previous experiences.
Finally I spent a day cleaning the car to an almost like new shine before putting it away and heading off to Newcastle airport to begin our voyage home to Philippines. The car polished up lovely and I can honestly say the pain and sorrow, the financial cost over the years which sums to a small detached house in the north or an Aston Martin DB9…..and some change left over (the dreaded VAT has been the killer); that 10 day journey put it all behind me (not so sure the wife feels that way). I love my TVR Tuscan S which now has clocked up 13548 miles since new in January 2003.
Soon it’s off back to Power for the full set up and the resultant “all interesting power curve”. I can’t wait to return to UK for a TVR Tour part 2 and driving some famous roads in Europe (probably next summer).
Thanks Dom and the guys at TVR Power.- most certainly an elite turnkey service well above many others.

Bloody hell. I know modifying cars isn't exactly a good investment but 100k + on a Tuscan? Wow.
Wow, thats about £7 a mile! After Pascals problems with 'the other place', I think we can safely say, lets not try to Supercharge or Turbo a SP6 Hats off to your persistance and hope for smooth running and blissful grins for the future! The pain has gone, and what an awesome engine you have ShiDevil said:

Shhh... don't you know you're not allowed to say that???? (or even pull the plug in November 2012 on it if you hear nothing than "we are working on the exhaust" for over 9 months... suddenly being presented, as of February 2013 with two "outstanding jobsheets", one from January 1st 2010 (poor guy who had to offer up his New Year's day to make my invoice), and the 2nd one dated 13/07/2011, from WAY BEFORE it was ever discussed to do anything with regards to turbo installation on 29 November 2011, all after asking for "every invoice since 2007" and only getting two (one original amount and one for work done to the Camaro (or at least, the yellow excrement poor attempt to get the lights adapted to UK legislation before having it being taken to a company who actually managed to adapt and register it properly ) and Range Rover Sport they sold for me).
Oops, I got carried away (wihtout prejudice for the record) again it seems.
Back on topic, WHEN (and it's not an IF) I get what is legally mine back (and my money), I know where i'll be spending it.
And to out-do you Graham, I'll throw in a 5 liter
I had my Tuscan mk1 crashed, now have a Mk2, have now put in my engine from my old MK1, because was overhauled from TVR POWER, Dom agreed to switch over the garantee to my new car, after checking all Ecu Details and proper installation.
There was no need for him to agree!!!!!!!
TVR Power, good service, always helpful

Good day Pascal, you won't regret the move to Power I have complete confidence in that, 5 litre.....mmmmmm nice. However, I will be happy to remain outdone my friend..... Need to focus on a near future retirement, had enough of working away from home and spending a good part of my life in airports. That said, I will be back in UK mid October for a brief visit so hope to get the car back to Power before then for an oil change and an RR set up.

Nice end to the tale, but I never understand these money pit projects - why not just pull the plug after the 2nd or 3rd failed promise?
I would assume that the optimist in them is hopeful that the goods will be delivered and if they are the first to go down a particular route then they probably accept that things will not go smoothly but eventually have to admit it isn't going to happen.Mattt said:

Some of us DO pull the plug after several attempts... and in return you get the company... Oh I'll shut up because this is pissing me off seriously and one of these days I'm going to take things a step further then involving lawyers and wassting money on trying to "mediate" things.Edited by PascalBuyens on Friday 26th July 09:43
4K miles across 2 separate months June 1.5K and Oct 2.5K.
Picked the car up in June from Power and took it on a steady run in period through some excellent Jockanese countryside - Scotland really is a picturesque country especially the west coast. Had it delivered back to Power in September for the rolling road set up and ready for my next UK return.
Picked the car up from Power mid Sept and was told by Dom "Drive it like you stole it"..... Headed up Norf did a few more miles in Scotland visiting mates. Got a call from Singapore asking me if I could head to Zurich for a 3 week work stint. So rather than fly.... off to Hull for a ferry to Zeebrugge and a short Euro run. Stopped over in Colamr France then onto Zurich. Took a number of drives in Switzerland, had a squirt on the Autobahns during a visit to Ober-Wolfach saw 159 on the GPS but missus was not often she turns the air blue so had to back off The drive back we took in Vianden, Luxembourg (great views and roads), Liege Belgium and then back to Blighty and no issues with getting off the ferry that time. A day to clean the car off and put it to bed for the rest of winter. Look forward to next summer for a proper planned Eurohoon.
Moral of the story here..... don't feck around wasting your hard earned with idiots and cowboys.... Do the sensible thing and call the EXPERTS; my recommendation.... TVR POWER
My 4.5 S is running like a dream and used naff all oil.
