To try to cut a long story short.. my car's due a remap in a few weeks with Dom, but i've just had a bit of extra money come my way so am thinking about going for the new mbe system with sequential injection and knock control.

I've read the other threads on Syvecs etc but wanted a couple of specific thoughts from other owners which are:
For those of you that are running Syvecs or even Omex..did you notice any change in the sound of the speed6? I don't want to lose the character of the engine which for me includes the noise. And did you really notice the improvement in driveability etc?

Any other things that you really notice running a car with such a system? We do about 4-5k miles a year, and had a 4.3 rebuild last year so warranty is still good etc so this would be more of an indulgence, and whilst i'm still leaning much more towards just a std remap, it's worth looking at all options.

Does the MBE option have proper idle speed control? If you're going to spend the cash on an upgraded ECU I'd definitely want this feature too. It will make the engine much more user friendly on a day to day basis.

I love the Syvecs - ok, it was put in with the FFF and other bits, but the package transformed e system. The car is a lot smoother, a lot happier when cold, and then ere is the traction control and the rest....

I know Dom will say opposite and plug his MBE system (as is his right), but IMHO the Syvecs is streets ahead.

Don1: Have you noticed any changes to the exhaust note due to the system?

JonRB would be a better bet for that - I changed on to a full ACT+decat at the same time... The engine sounds smoother and happier though. And it really revs.... Think of it as revy and characterful as a 3.6, but with a lot more grunt. The fuelling is just spot on. There is a map around of it somewhere, if that would help?

Yes the engine note changes to a more "relaxed" sound, but with Syvecs I have the pops and bang map that changes it back closer to the original MBE mapping.

Something to note, check with Dom about your Power rebuild and the warranty if you put on a new ECU other than an MBE.
Also Check with RG if they will accept the new MBE on a FFF.??? it could all be down to who actually fits your aftermarket ECU as to warranty infringement.

I only offer warranty with Mbe & 14cux , not knocking syvec but I want no association with RG packages

I'm getting a 4.5s and a version of this system put on my Saggy in the next few months, so I'm happy to report back experience
and let folks know what the new MBE package is like.

Spoke with Dom about it and it does sound quite good, so once I've tried it out I'm happy to do a write up of the results and people
can take it from there.

Cheers!

CAN and OBD2......interesting. What will it do when you plug an OBD2 code reader into it? What parameters, codes and errors will it show? Is it complaint with any OEM standards and would for example your local MOT station be able to make sense of it?

I'm also looking at a new chip. Just tired of the randomness of the standard one.
Sometimes it idles at 700rpm, then occasionally it idles at 2000rpm for a day or two...

Somedays when cold it idles fine, other times it will keep conking out.

Dom, how much is your new MBE system? (all fitted, inc VAT etc)
Will it give switchable maps and a selectable traction control option?

Many thanks

(I'm not sure if asking specifics about products breaks any rules - if so, please PM me instead)

wavey I see you're in Berkshire... are you coming to the next meet at the Peacock farm as i'd be really keen to experience a car with something like the Omex just to see how it compares!

Yes I should be around for that one. Not managed to get down there yet as I'm frequently away with work.

I believe we've met briefly, you were down in the pit with Calvin at the time!
