So as not to hijack Rob's thread, please could someone advise me what the best way is to make noteable gains on a 3.6, say 30+ bhp. Is the answer to simply replace it with a RG 4.0 or Power 4.3 or are there "cheaper" mods available that are worth doing.

My 3.6 makes 352bhp with sports exhaust/decat, so what's left to do for considerably less than the price of a replacement engine, airbox/cams/injectors??

I miss the extra power my 4.5 Cerb had, so will be looking to upgrade later this year and would be grateful for the thoughts of anyone who has already gone this route.

cheers
Bob

Not more power but maybe try lighter flywheel and higher diff ratio? Quicker pickup smile

Racing Green Simplex timing chain, with lightened flywheel etc will make it even revier.

ACT airbox with trumpets etc will get more air in, and then decat+ exhaust work to get it back out again.

Joolz is doing some work with his 3.6?

CliveF and (maybe) RND have done work with cams, injectors and a remap - good figures from there.

Hi Clive, yes i'm keeping an eye on all things Joolz at the moment!

I'm just waiting for him to say he's ready to offer a suite of reliable upgrades that give X bhp for X pounds..............then i'll decide what i want to do, it would be easy to dump the 3.6 for more capacity, but it's such a sweet engine it would be criminal to do so.

I agree, I thought the 3.6 in my t350 was a much smoother sweet reving engine compared to the 4lt in the sag, makes me wonder if they were balanced properly when being made, when you talk to poeple with 4.3 and 4.5 rebuilds they say how nice they are as well after being balanced as part of the build program.

Yours is the only T model I've ever drove and it felt an amazing car, power delivery was immense and at the same time, rather controllable.

Certainly put a TVR grin on my face.

With my rebuild I haven't gone for bhp but I have tried to go for torque & to bring it in lower down the rev range. Some may argue its not"speed 6" character as its a revvy engine, but lower down power suits my driving style more.Really looking forward to feeling the difference.

Cheers Michael, I guess it's human nature to always want a bit more!!

As previously posted RND are doing some work on my T 350 3.6 I will report back when I have the bhp/torque figures.

Hi Clive do you fabricate Cat replacement pipes for the T350 please?

Thanks Donski

Yes i'll be interested in RND's numbers too.

A couple of years ago i saw a 4.3 T car post 373bhp on a dyno, assuming the dyno was correct and notwithstanding a smoother power delivery, to me 21 bhp would not be acceptable for say an £8-10k outlay.

I am also changing to the Omex ECU to allow easier and more accurate mapping along with many other benefits.

I have to say, the 3.6 T350 is mental in the way it delivers it's beans, even if it's not as physically fast in a 0-60 sprint as a Tuscan S/Sag.... It also (as an engine) seems to make a better scream or howl at top revs... Absolutely addictive..

Sag is a great, great car, but not noticeably quicker, unless you have the CR box & 3.73/3.91 diff - which is what makes the 0-60 & 0-100 faster I think.

I'm stuck with a 4.0S engine now in the Sag, but my old T350 had the Power 4.5 upgrade in it with CR box & 3.91 diff - Craig at TrackVRoad told said was absolutely mental !!!!

I'm not sure that's true. There's too much variation in engine outputs from car to car and the difference in power between the 3.6 and 4.0 engines is often marginal and when weight is taken into account the power / weight ratio differences are probably negligible. The faster car 0-60 is more likely to be down to who gets the better start rather than engine size.

This is true... I keep thinking of a different cam, timing gear, rotrex or turbo... Or a V8.... Anyway, back to your thread.

Mike, you really should feel how my engine is - revs like a 3.6, but the torque of a 4.3/5. Best of both worlds!

Go to Chatsworth there will be an array of different engine types that I'm sure the owners will take you out in, and if they are honest enough will tell you the downsides as well as the benefits.

I'd love to get to Chatsworth this year. And completely agree - transparency needs to be there.
