Good weather and the throttle cable has gone again. I have the new bracket, have bent the bracket, fitted the latest cable but still it doesn't seem to last. Any ideas? Getting about 12 months out of one at the minute. Seems like a really bad design, has anyone done anything different?

I'd be interested to know where it broke as I'll be putting the engine back in shortly. Have you got any pics??

I have taken some before, I'll take some again, they always break at the nipple. I think it needs a guide for the cable like a major manufacturer oem part.

Been doing some tweaks to the throttle bodies, linkages etc and saw this thread...reminded me to check cable.

Its fine but I think the secret to stop it breaking is not to bend the supporting "tab" up, rather you need to bend the tab so that the cable support hole sits further away from the brake servo.

Looking at the hole position where the cable passes through...it doesnt line up with the swivelling boss thingy that does the pulling (from the V shaped lever).

When you relax the throttle fully the boss actually sits off-center of the cable center line and "flips" the nipple out, bending the cable at about 30o frown

I just modified mine...put a large flat screw driver down behind the 90o bend where the support tab juts away from the servo (down below the bracket's top 13mm servo mounting nut). Lever outwards behind the tab and you'll see the tab will move forwards (towards the driver) and will tend to rotate slightly too. The center lines will line up much better. I guess I bent it about 4mm.

Have a try.
First throttle movement much nicer now...
