Is it necessary to re-chip after decatting a Sp6 Cerbera?
Who has done this and what are your views on it?

I ran my car for 18months without a de cat chip and it was fine,no problems. A number of garages told me it wasn't necessary when my Cerb was in for a service or some upgrade.
When it was at TVR Power for it's 1000mile service after my rebuild Dom said he would put a chip in for me, I don't know if he did but if he did I genuinly haven't noticed any difference.

a good mechanic will remap it, no need to buy an expensive chip

I felt like my Tuscan was a bit stronger mid range with the decat chip. Looks like the price has increased a fair bit since I bought mine though.

ACT (made by JP Exhausts) are the cheapest. Check their website.

Willie at Meerkat made me two stunning silenced de-cats for my cerb much cheaper than off the shelf units and every bit as good if not better ( Good enough for the late Colin Mcrae good enough for me) . He will fabricate exactly what you want.

If you do use him tell him it was me that put you on to him i have just this week had my Mini's exhaust done by him as well see half way down the page for his work.

He did my full Cerbs System you are welcome for a look and listen it is 100% better than the old system and not to over the top. smile

No, you do not have to.
A remap might make sense, but the lambdas measure before the catalytic converters,so are not affected by removing the cats.
You do increase flow a little though.

It is much deeper and more bass to the sound now and it does not drone at all like it did at 30mph and 50 mph I think i was £180 for my 2 large silenced de-cats and they are big boxs And he modified the Cats so they can just slot back in if need be later on.

Had Dom decat my sp6 while having engine rebuild, I went for the decat EPROM map and all I can say is the car is completely new... Ok before build 2 cylinders were out and it was behaving like a donkey but since work done. No need to blip throttle on start up, no need to keep warm after start incase of stall. Heat management seems much better!

Just can get these 1000 miles out the way quick enough is it me or does 3000RPM come up way too quickly?! But even at that range the pipes are singing. Right now though feels like any more rpm would blow up... Lol

LOVE it, I say map it for the extra bhp and torques anyway! wink
