I've just bought the Mk Indy R Speed 6 advertised here and as a Speed 6 newbie I wondered what engine oil I should be putting in it. It currently has fully synthetic but Russ at Raceproved recommends semi-synthetic. Whats the general view and any particular products that you would recommend?#
Many thanks

Richard if you search there is a lot of info on oil for these engines I use 5W40 semi synthetic. What does tt go like the Tuscans are bloody fast so the MK must be no more than 600 kgs and absolutely manic good luck with the car

Going with the advice of any of the major names in TVRs (in no particular order..... Str8-Six, Power, Racing Green, Raceproved or any other that have a good reputation on here), isn't a bad thing at all.

Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks all, your help is very appreciated.

It's being delivered Saturday (an unexpected service kindly offered by the builder and current owner). Its a single donor from a crashed 2003 Tuscan - 4.0 engine and ancilliaries, gearbox, diff, uprights, rear brakes, mbe 941 ecu; and weighs in at 750kgs. I've been driving 300bhp/ton+ for over 6 years, but I think this will be another level [mental note: ignore red mist, treat with respect!]

I plan to do low mileage, Sunday blats in good weather and quite a few track days. So I want to look after the 23k miles not-yet-blownup-rebuilt engine for the warm weather, and maybe look at getting it rebuilt by one of the specialists over the winter. So oil changes will figure frequently smile

As newbie to dry sumps I have no idea how to fill it smile I'll aks him on Sat, and come back for help if he doesn't know smile Again, many thanks for all your help.

Assuming the engine makes around 365 horses, which good ones do, that's 486bhp/ton - have fun!!! yikes

10w40 with high ZDDP content recommended by OpieOils for the SpeedSix - think they have a sticky on here with answers to this type of question.
