ACT Performance Airbox Install
Discussion
Just taken delivery of an ACT Performance Airbox which I intend to fit later this week before she heads up to Jason at Str8six for some other tweeks. Seems I need to drill for pipes/breathers, the sensor, and the mountings so presume everything transfers onto the new box in the same position as the original?
Also on my original there is a larger hole on the lower piece, IIRC at the front? (it's been a while), do I need to add this too? Think I read somewhere it's there in case you drive through deep water?
I know there are a few fitted (seen the pics ), so any input would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I didn't put the large hole in mine. It looks like the hole was to clear the alternator!, I managed to fit mine without it but it sits on top of the alternator, I will the next time I take it off drill a smaller hole than original, the alternator has nicely marked where I need to drill
Thanks for the replies Gents, however it seems I won't be fitting it myself, SWMBO'd added it to the list for Jason next week, perhaps she doesn't trust me with a drill and an expensive bit of carbon fibre
It did give me the chance tonight to investigate the occasional whiff of fuel I'd been smelling, seems there was a pipe off the carbon canister, go figure?
NCE 61, the clips are held on with rivets, I'll look at replacing them, as a minimum on the lid section after I get her back............thanks for the tip

On the latest ACT boxes, they still use the pop rivets for the clips but they have an epoxy coating on them (or Str8six did this when they fitted my air box) to stop the bits being ingested by the engine if they come loose. It did give me the chance tonight to investigate the occasional whiff of fuel I'd been smelling, seems there was a pipe off the carbon canister, go figure?

Just popped the lid off and yes they have been sealed in, so for future reference they are supplied like that from ACT. Thanks ShepGassing Station | Speed Six Engine | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
