TVR Power 5.0 litre
Discussion
I was up in Coventry collecting my car from TVR Power last night and was fortunate enough to see Dom's Sag with his 5.0 doing some mapping on the rolling road. It sounds fantastic and I saw some pretty impressive numbers before I left.
Anyhow, for those interested, here's the print out comparing the original factory Sag build with the 5.0 litre build, in the same car, on the same dyno, with the same fuel type. Scary stuff and that's just a base map.

The 4.5 compared to the standard 4.0 gained a 22.7% in hp and 29% in torque on a 12.5% volume increase.
The 5.0 compared to the 4.5 gained a 3.6% in hp, and 11.6% in torque on a 11.1% volume increase.
Clearly diminishing returns. I agree it is likely the engine's breathing is limiting at least the hp. To take advantage of the increased capacity more air molecules need to be compressed into the engine than it can breathe for itself.
I guess that is why Dom has been talking about turbocharging, although I would prefer supercharging to maintain the main reason for my wanting a straight six in the first place, it's sound.

Aspirated power is all im interested at the moment, yes you’re all correct my 5 ltr not making huge numbers why? Simple answer "start safe" then lean on the old girl, at the moment im only running 11:0:1 compression with a Very safe squish, Standard road cams and valve springs, my whole objective is 100% reliability The 5.0 compared to the 4.5 gained a 3.6% in hp, and 11.6% in torque on a 11.1% volume increase.

So you all ask what’s the next level will be:
Larger Exhaust Valves, better cams with a little more compression, larger intake butterflies and much better exhaust manifolds with the all new Smart MBE ecu.

Dom sensible approach given that you warrant your engines the way you do and good to see you have decided to post again.
Yes a sensible approach from Dom as this forum is littered with people who have been used as test mules for engine upgrades and conversions that have cost fortunes for very little or NO return!!Tvr Power said:

Thanks for the reply. I like your plans and will be most interested to follow the results! So you all ask what’s the next level will be:

So Dom, where you're at now?
You promised me a go in it, you owe me one
Pascal my little gay friend your more than welcome to have a test drive my Sag done 2500 miles in the UK with no issues , just awaiting a window opportunity to hop on the ferry and test in Europe... You promised me a go in it, you owe me one
