undo the cam caps, if you are careful the cam will then lift on the rear end without timing chain moving on the sprockets, undo the nuts gradually, same with retightening.
as above, you can remove them all bar the last one by the timing gear, just leave that one as loose as possible. Gives you loads of space. Make sure to block up the oil gallery next to the last tappet
