Hello all,

I’m well into reassembling my Speed 6 after a worn finger follower turned into a full rebuild. My question is about the water pump. After purchasing a new pump there appears to be a circlip missing from the kit, and it’s almost impossible to remove the circlip in question from the old pump (see pic). I’ve found a traditional clip which fit perfectly into the existing rebate but it is certainly different from the OE.

The new clip doesn’t foul the cog which drives the chain or impede the oil flow to the bearing.

So, can anyone suggest why I couldn’t use the new clip on the new pump (see pic)?

Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs, but is the new circlip sitting 'home' in the groove. It just doesn't look as though it's fully seated. I know it could be an optical conclusion but I would expect the ends to at least 'look' further apart??

It may not be sitting completely home, I just threw it in to take the pic. It does fit properly.

No reason why you can't use this circlip, the water pump has liitle axiel load and the clip is just a retaining clip. as long as the inner race doesn't touch the clip then fit and forget.

FYI: You do need to use the circlip without the traditional holes for fitting/removal. The cog just touches the new clip.
