Hi All,

My cerb was not used for a while before I bought it and it has a slightly stiff accelarator pedal which means that driving can be jurky, and at some points a bit dangerous as I cannot apply a "little" pressue.
Example, I tried to pull away as some traffic lights and the pedal didn't move until I applied quite a bit of pressure, then it gave and I went shooting off smile

The question is how can I grease the pully (or whatever it is), other than directly above the pedal (I can see that and have oiled that).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TomeJ

I would start by determining whether it's sticking at the pedal hinge, the throttle body, or in the cable itself. You'll probably need to unhook the throttle cable to do this, but after that it should be obvious where the sticking is coming from.

Having said all that, there's no harm in spraying a bit of wd40 about the place first to see I that frees things up.

Took her out yesterday after oiling the pedal and it's still sticking. It appears to be when she gets hot.

Can someone point me in the direct of where the throttle cable goes to the engine on the SP6 please smile - I'm a bit new to this. I've also not removed the airbox from the SP6 engine so are thre any do's and don'ts. Its just thatI recall reading somewhere about something possibly faling into somewhere when removing?

Many thanks

God knows about mechanical stuff-I'm an eejit, but the falling in bit was more than likely about the nuts which hold the airbox clasps on..if it falls off/fails its the engine side of the filter.

Be a bit careful here - the throttle cables on other S6 cars (Sagaris/Tuscan) have a habit of getting progressively stiffer as they start to fray at given points - usually at the pedal end - to the extent when you do apply a "little pressure" the next thing you know is that it has parted out.

If you can see the sections of cable where it comes out of the sheath at each end, try spraying a little lithium grease (white) or general purpose grease between the sheath and the cable, using one of the small tubes that comes with sprays such as WD40. It will look as if nothing is going in (wrap a cloth over the end when you spray if you value he appearance of your carpet or engine bay!) but it doesn't really need to go very far, as realistically, any corrosion should be within the first couple of cms. The work the cable a bit, to get the grease moving in, then see how it goes.

Worked a treat on my motorbike throttle cable, and also the TVR's window mechanism.
