Hello and Many Thanks to all who take the time to read this question in advance. I have had performance cars over the years. Ranging from Ferrari's to Porsche. Back in 2005 I bought a TVR Tuscan 2001 model. censored

1. I am currently living in Eastern Poland and there are no TVR Dealers here. The warranty that I would purchase off the dealer is not going to be valid as I am taking the car overseas. I have a couple of mates that run their own garages to help me with simple maintenance. People who build transmissions and have a very good mechanical background. Do you think that it is feasible to purchase an early model Tuscan that is going to get me back to Poland without any problems.A car that is not going to present any major problems bar from the minor tweaks over the period of the summer. Or are the early tuscans not really worth the risk?. Especially with such a long journey that is too be covered over 3 days. Mileage of over 1300 miles. I have had a number of conflicting reports from the dealers on them.
2. Which are the most reliable dealers at this moment?. I have so far contacted Tony Gilbert, Fernhurst, Racing Green, Hexham. Seems to me that the most informed are Fernhurst but there prices go with that.
3. Is a rebuilt engine something to go for due to my circumstances.
4. Should I go private, which independent service garage would you recommend to inspect the car?.
5. If a Tuscan is not recommended then I have been told by Fernhurst that the Griff is probably my best bet, with my price budget. Racing Green told me otherwise with the Tamora being my best bet. As for the Griff with Fernhurst as pro as they maybe (Just cant seem to convince myself though to go and pay 20k for a car that is almost 15 years old). Hard to swallow despite good Griffs keeping their value.

Once again many thanks for your help. If I was based at home I probably would not put these questions on you and attend the meetings etc. But due to the fact I am overseas I have no other option.

You'll probably get a better response to this on the Tuscan or General TVR forums

The first part of the post may fall foul of the 'name and shame' rules here.

There are loads of threads on here about the questions, but to help:

TVRs aren't made of magic and pixie dust - the correct parts and the good advice here will help a great deal.

Other good TVR people are Str8-Six and TVR Power (off the top of my head of ones that were missing).

Rebuilds - can be good to have, but it's not the be all and end all.

Private/inspections - any TVR dealer worth their salt offer an inspection service.

Griff/Tamora - The Tam is a better car. It may not be as pretty as a Griff, or give as good a noise, but it is better. But a well sorted Griff/Chim is an absolute joy. It just depends on your personal choice.

Incredible to think you are after another Tuscan after your 1st experience , but I guess it tells you all about how these cars can get under your skin.

An early Tuscan would be ok as long as it has a long list of reciepts, clutch, shocks, discs, service history and TBH i would be looking for a rebuild by TVR Power or str8six for peace of mind (not one done by the TVR factory at Blackpool as they were just as likley to break).

if I had to choose between a tamora and a griff i would go with a newer Tamora. Try to buy as new as you can or if not one that has had loads done to it(reciepts).
