Simplex Timing Chain
Discussion
My engine is in need of having the upper tensioner replaced, whilst getting this work done I would like to know if it’s worthwhile going to the Simplex Chain setup that is now available, and what if any advantage does it have?
Obviously whilst having the tensioner done the half time bearing will be replaced as I know these can be an issue.
Would there be anything else worth doing whilst the cover is off and engine out?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I don't know about the durability of the product but the benefits seems to be centred largely around the lower mass which requires less force (torque) to accelerate and stores less energy, those savings being passed on to the wheels. The closest analogy I can think of is a lightened flywheel.
