Clucking bell seems to come to mind!
Further on from my post in the "Measuring oil level" thread.
I rang Dom at TVR Power for advice on the oil level in my Tuscan 1.
On checking the dip at both cold and hot my dipstick was bone dry, Dom recommended chucking between 1 & 1 1/2 ltrs in now and then monitoring the levels.
So me in a bit of a panic of having my engine running dry proceeds to top up with 1 & 1/2 ltrs.
My dip is now reading almost 3/4 the way between min and max, "that's good" you may say, the engine is cold!
What can I do? Apart from sit down and cry! (the tears would be manly tears of course!)
I've not started the car for fear of the world ending.

Start it up, run for 30 seconds or so, then turn off and wait to cool again, then check again.

If it was showing totally empty from cold then you won't have "massively" overfilled with 1.5litres so I wouldn't worry.

Thats ok?!

The car is totally cold, I'm not going to blow any seals etc? Should I leave the dipstick loose or tight?

Yee gods, this TVR ownership things a right rollercoster!....But I love it!

The oil tank vents to the air box. That's where the oil will end up if its really over filled.

Just leave the oil cap off just incase, run it up then check. you would have to over fill it by quite a considerable amount and run it for quite some time before any damage would occure
