I'm guessing it won't run. Anyone know what CC this is?
looks like he's selling a lot of old stock stuff too.

Why shouldn't it run?I'm guessing it won't run. Anyone know what CC this is?

As a one off, I'd have thought there was half a chance that the components are made properly as well, rather than some of the junk that went into the production versions.

It won't have run for over 11 years if it's one of the originals. So will need a strip down to ensure all is as it should, along with replacing all seals at least. If it does run you would have to be a brave man to put it into a car. I think this is best to stay as a display piece.Edited by Getsis on Thursday 18th August 09:19

I suppose the lack of a hole for the crank & no platform for the oil filter to seal against....no, it’ll be fine
Great coffee table.
Eh? The "hole for the crank" is at the back where we cant see... I'm pretty sure there is a hole there! Whether or not there's a crank I have no idea. Also, the AJP-6 has the oil filter on the opposite side to the Speed 6- it will be there, we just cant see it in the photos.Great coffee table.

It's not a Speed 6 it's an AJP6, which, according to Al for various reason, was better balanced and as a result did not need a damper.
I'd be surprised if it's complete to be honest.
Sorry I'll try getting the engine's name correct next time. I thought dampers were fitted to engines to help balance and alter the crankshafts natural frequency to separate it from the resonance of the firing order. Which long crankshafts like a straight 6 are very susceptible to, acting like a torsional spring?I'd be surprised if it's complete to be honest.

I'm not being a pedant on the name, there are differences with a longer crank on the Speed6 varesion being one of them.brogenville said:

Where will the starter motor bolt to?
Presumably on the side of the engine that we can't see in the photos. I doubt Al would have forgotten to add on a starter!I heard the other original engines ran for 15 minutes on tick over before seizing on the TVR factory Dymo. That's when the problems started. The matter I heard ended in court and apparently Al Melling couldn't explain how the oil pump worked to the court. I heard this from one of today's most respected guys who worked in engine development at the factory.
