RG throttle body mod
Discussion
Hi all.
Has anyone purchased the reconditioned units from RG with the roller bearing mod? I believe that Dreadnought also used to offer mods but at closer to £1k than the c. £300 (after exchange) that RG charge.
Am seriously considering this at the moment as mine can be a pig at low revs / small throttle openings a few hundred miles after a service.
As a follow up, are the throttle bodies the same for all FF SP6s?
TIA

Yeah i bought a set earlier in the year. My TB's were is fairly good condition other than the wear on the spindle holes, which meant i was a little dissapointed with the RG TB's, the adjuster arms and grub screws ahd seen better days.
I had to tap one out to m5 IIRC and put in a larger grub screw before i could get them to balance - one kept moving on a knackered thread.
Having said that, now they are in they have stayed in balance well and not needed any intervantion.
I also replaced both throttle pots to be safe. results were pretty good, much smoother idle when warm and no longer any misfires an light throttle or high RPM under accel.
One thing i have noticed is that, when cold, it idles like a dog with these installed. Once warm, it goes go back to normal. Can only think that because there is much less play in the whole setp-up, when cold there is some misalignment which results in poor airflow, and it all corrects itself once up to temp. Whereas previously there may have been movement and play that allowed the engine to settle, it cant now do so when cold.

Think so....i just told them the year of mine and that was that. Mark
Dont think they changed except maybe in later years when TVR started to use bushes after realising their engineering prowess wasnt quite what they thought it was .
