Starting to get things together for the winter and thinking about scheming out the bodies etc.

What do we think about going the sames as the F1 engines I worked on with roller barrel throttles?




This someone elses design but the principle is similar, zero air loss, proportional control and zero obstruction.

Please discuss.

Are the current butterflies actually a restriction? It's already a pretty responsive engine, I'm not sure your cost/benefit analysis would work out.

No but if the originals are buggered (or at least need bushing not had them apart yet). The lever type bodies need almost constant maintenance and the design is not great. Just looking at some progress.

Roller bearing throttle bodies are the most common route - and cheapest way to get the car to stay in tune for longer than a couple of months!! They are available from Racing Green (online shop) or Str8 Six (only offered as fitted and tuned on the car). Racing greens were £350 odd, i guess this would be cheaper than starting from scrathc with barrels?

They do work well - i have a set fitted.

I remember Joolz ex Joospeed saying he'd spent ages on one motor knife edging the butterflies and flowing the screws and spindles and it made no difference at all.
