thinking of importing a 4x4. I believe if its a commercial, the VRT is minimal compared with the outragous quotes on passanger 4x4's?? any clarification on this?

Yes, not sure as to the specifics, someone will be along to clarify, but VRT on commercials is substantially lower than on regular vehicles.

Yea, a "jeep derived commercial" is alot cheaper to VRT than a passenger 4x4, I think it's 13% of the open market selling price of the jeep value.
Get a vrt quote from www.ros.ie (access vrt enquiry system) this will tell you how much they want.

just had a look at the revenue web, to see how they work out the vrt on 4x4's. tried to select under 'jeep derived' BMW - only selection in 525?? Then tried Landrover - NO selection availible for Range Rover. The two models im interested in importing - BMW X5 or LandRover Range Rover. Can anyone shed any light on this? or is a visit to the VRT office necessary?
