Hi There,
I am looking for help/advice on insuring my '07 GT3 (USA spec ala LHD import) in the Republic fully comprehensive?

I may be relocating to work there in a couple of months and I am looking to get an idea of how much it will
cost to insure/register and god help me run ...

Thanks!

If memory serves me correctly, there is only 3-4 insurance companies in Ireland that will qoute on a Porsche(from my own experience). I would think you could be loaded with it being a GT3 and LHD, although, you probably know this already. Quinn, AXA, The Travellers(St. Paul) and Excess Direct(4000 excess), were the qoutes I got. Hope this helps.

You can buy excess off an Excess Direct premium buy accepting more onto your premium, so its not all doom and gloom with a huge excess of 4k.

Without a single clue of your age, driving experience, where you're going to live etc .. .. eh, not really .. ..

A LHD 07 GT3 will carry a substantial premium though I would imagine.

I'm insured with Norwich Union.

I use First Ireland as brokers and find them pretty good at getting a competitive quotation - might be worth giving them a call.

You could try Allianz, I got a good rate for a 3l LAnd Cruser fully comp, twas about 300EUR fully comp, but then I'm nearly 40 and had 5 years no claims.

Regarding getting it registered over here? How long are you moving over for and areyou changing residency, ie paying your income tax over here?

If you are looking to import it (put Irish plates on it) then so long as you are changing residency, opening bank accounts etc, then you won't pay import duty.

If you are not changing residency, then expect to be able to prove that you are still resident in the US, as you will eventually get caught by Customs and Excise, and they are quite happy to impound your car and keep hold of it until you pay the import duty.

PM me if you need any further info.
