There are quite a few large beaches along the North County Dublin coastline - Donabate is one as is Portmarnock and Portrane.

Do they still allow cars on Dollymount?

I think you mean Dollymount... not sure if cars are still allowed though its been a few years, Donabate is just north of the city and cars are allowed in certain areas...

you can still take cars onto dollymount strand - although they have put barriers up to restrict how far along the beach you can go (big boulders!)

I popped up to Dollymount on Saturday though at the time I didn't know that was what its name was. Just seems like there are a couple of car parks on the beach, so you can't exactly hoon along.

Heading west to Galway at the weekend, then up through Connemara and round Donegal...

Nice choice, Connemara is epic. Make sure and keep heading west out passed Spidal etc towards Clifden. Some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland.

If at Clifden, make sure you visit the Alcock and Brown memorial.

Saw the pics of the Galway C&C, looked like a nice collection of hardware. Great Reg plate Timmy!
