Chaps - What is Shell V-Power over here? Have heard a number of stories that it is not the same 99 Octane rating as UK. I am now here with Chim - and it will need some fuel soon.
There isn't much around - but there is a pump at Midleton Shell.
(And I don't want to start an "is it worth it, does it do any good - or anything?" debate!! I'll decide that one on the quiet.)
Cheers

Nope, Shell V-power is regular 95ron in Ireland.

Maxol are rolling out their new E5 petrol though, supposed to be 99ron. Mitchelstown are 'supposed' to have it.

That being the case - how can they justify charging more?
What you're (and others) telling me - same stuff as in the 95 Octane pump?

Yes, V-power here is 100% certainly 95ron.

They charge more as it is 'supposed' to be better for your engine and for the environment. I'll take regular 95ron thanks.

Is the E5 actually a higher rating than 95ron ? any issues with using it without a remap on a T350 ?

The E5 is 99 octane. I don't think it's countrywide as of yet. When it was rolled out first the Cork depot serving a lot of the south and west was unable to stock it so it was only those stations served by the Dublin depot which had it.
I think there was something on the Maxol site at some point (I think, I only saw it through a link on another site), which comprised a list of cars that could use E5 without a remap. Might be a good place to start smile

Cheers - I will check that out. i tried it in the other car with no issues but the TVR may be a bit more sensitive. If it works it is a bargain (relative to the cost of regular 95 RON and Octane booster).
