Hi,

I need a new tyre for my A6, I need a 225/50R17 Y, pref Pirelli

I was thinking of using these guys type
www.eiretyres.com/start.html

Has anyone used them before?

Any suggestions on where the best deals in Dublin can be found?

Thanks,

J.

I used them, took about a week for delivery. Happy enough as I got the tyres I wanted.

Dave McCann Tyres in Blanchardstown did a great job on mine. Matched the cheapest quote I'd found elsewhere and, more importantly for me, took a bit of time and trouble about getting the balancing/alignment right - I'd strongly recommend giving him a shout.

Another vote for Dave Mac Cann..

There's few enough tyre guys out there who give a sh1t ... Dave and his men know their stuff , they'll give you the time and tyres you need , and the prices are pretty damn good (for rip off Ireland!!)

Both my heart and my head tell me I want, nay, NEED the TT - the first test drive in one convinced me that this was an extraordinary piece of engineering, unlike anything I'd driven before. I also think they're extremely good value at the moment and I'm certain a 2001/2002 TT would hold its value infinitely better than a more recent C4S.

However, the sad, middle-aged, getting-faintly-sensible part of me tells me that the main reason I love the TT is the shove in the small of my back when I drop the right foot. There aren't that many opportunities to do that in Dublin City Centre and even if I make the effort to get out on the open road, the reality is it's only a matter of time before a Boy in Blue steps out from behind a bush with a radar gun. That's a risk in any car - in the TT, though, the likelihood is that I'd probably be doing something silly speed-wise and I've no great desire to be gracing the dock of my local, friendly District Court.

So, after a bit of a rethink, I was leaning towards a C4S Cabriolet for the next sound investment. I know it's not a proper driver's car but I want something that's a bit different from my own and get the whole soft-top thing out of my system. I also think they look the biz and, as you say, with a PSE, they don't sound too shabby either. Roof-down motoring might make up for the lack of outright speed, and they don't handle too badly in the twisties...

Had my eye on one in London but now rethinking matters after a fairly frightening call from Revenue to let me know what the VRT would be...

Still, it's a bloody nice dilemma to have; TT or C4S. Please don't let there be a recession before I take the plunge!!

Do I take it you've installed the PSE? Everything you hoped for cloud9?

Quote from my 3 year old son today on the way to the swimming pool ...
" Can we put the windows up now Daddy , I'm getting really cold" hehe

... "Whoops , sorry son" ..

That's going to cost me a fortune in Psychologists fees in years to come.

It's the bloody business .. I've also fooled myself into believing I'll get my money back come sale time rolleyes

The big thing that would sway me towards a TT (or a GT for that matter) is that solid lump of a GT1 block .
