Visiting Dublin this weekend

2nd attempt: 
Will be flying over Friday morning to see Guns N Roses at the RDS in the evening and staying over in a hotel on the city outskirts with a return flight on Saturday afternoon.
Any advice on things to do or to make sure we avoid?
Has anyone been to DiFontaine's pizzeria? I'm a big Fun Lovin Criminals fan so wanted to go. Is it close to where the gig is?

What do you want to do?
Actually, where are you staying as it may not be feaseable to pop in and out of town. Do you want to stay in the city for the day and straight to the gig (i.e. into town, lunch and somewhere nice for drinks) or head in for a tour or something, back to the hotel and on to concert? Looking to kill a few hours or persue an interest?
Actually, I shouldn't really be asking all this as I generally then come up with blanks on things to do, but there are a few of us on here who might have a good suggestion. A bit of info on your movements though might be good

If in doubt..... Keoghs off Grafton street for the best Guinness (likely to be there on Sat night myself). Drink is consumed outside as it's too small inside, might be a good stop after the gig on the way home.

Unfortunately I have no idea where I am staying as I didn't book it. Just going along for the ride so to speak.
Will probably go straight to the hotel to drop off our stuff and then spend Friday afternoon in the shops and seeing the sights followed by a bit of food, the gig, and then a drink or two before heading back.
Saturday will pretty much be the same.

All non-smoking, has been for 1 1/2 years now.
I'm a poor shopper so can't help there, but if a bit of scenery and a wander is your game, try in around Trinity college, St Stephens Green, Grafton Street for the shops and plenty of decent pubs. The Pav (pavillion bar) beside the cricket pitch in Trinity is great just to enjoy the sun for a bit sitting on the grass.
Pubs here don't serve food as much as they do in the UK, so don't expect many to serve anything more than soup and sandwiches. Kildare Street has a few good eateries come late bars such as Ron Blacks or Café en Seine but you'll not get anything past 8 o'clock. Elephant and Castle is a great place in Temple bar for good reasonably priced food. No bookings taken for small groups afaik, just arrive and wait.
Otherwise, unless you have something specific in mind, wander about - have a few drinks - and enjoy the weekend.

.Having a drink with the parents in the back garden of the house earlier on this evening, and whadda ya know: strains of.......... take me down to paradise city...... waft through the air. Sutton must be what, 10 or 15 mile from the RDS, with Robbie Williams live in Croker kinda between the two, but I could tell every song they played!

.Had a good time. Got lost around Dublin a bit and trying to use public transport while there were 30,000+ other GNR fans and 120,000+ Robbie Williams fans all in the city centre was a bit 'interesting'.
Axl Rose and his cover band put on a good show, the Irish people were very friendly, and the Guiness tastes great. Will have to do it again sometime.

Completly Off Topic here, but Charlie will be passing the house tomorrow on the way to Sutton graveyard. Shame I'll be in work as I would have liked to see him pass.
If you saw him pass your house , it'd be a bloody miracle!! (They'd probably beatify him on the spot , sainthood , shortly thereafter..)
How's the run up to the new house going for you?? ... If you don't have at least fifteen pains in the arse with it , you're being cheated .. demand money back immediately!!
It bloody well is , but I'll bet you're quite happy with the amount your house-to-be has appreciated so far, and that's before you've even drawn down the big cheque!!
In other words , It's all worth it in the end..
(Even if you did miss Lemans!!!).. I'm pretty pissed I didn't get down there myself... Maybe next year.
