As another dealer moan, Dads Merc was in for service and recall on Thursday. I had clayed and waxed the car on Wednesday so asked them not to wash the car. Picked up the dirtyiest car possible on Friday. They parked it beside the car wash bays and got it covered in the crap from everyone elses cars.

Another wash and chamoix needed .

Sister dealership nearer Croke Park .

They also inform me that the brakes and alternator need doing an hour before I was due to pick up the car. Needed the car on Friday afternoon so no-can-do. I was told that the brakes are heavily worn and need replacing. Ok then, can you get it in next week? No it'll be may 5th at the earliest!!!!!!! WTF!

It's common for these places to be short staffed over the weekend and only open for small jobs. Sounds like he started what he thought should be a small job, had a decent try at it and then realized he was getting into something that needed a lot more time than he could afford. I don't see anything wrong with that, I don't think you have any reason to start slagging them off. If it's that important to you, you always have the option to take it somewhere else or do it yourself.

I was due to drive to Cork on Saturday at which point the service guy said the car was unsafe to use due to the brakes. And yet a months wait to fix them is ok! "they'll probably be grand" he says . It's still a company car-ish, so not really all that fussed about the price, so I'll get them done anyway.

they werent short staffed, they were doin full on alignments on 2 other cars so a headlight alignment is a lot smaller in comparison, its just frustrating cos theyre the best we have over here, btw it took him ages just to manage to turn on the lights!

I've found him straight , honest , to the point , but never rude.
He also does the best deals on good tyres in Dublin ,And his set up is excellent.
I wouldn't fall out with him over moving a bulb!

He setup my GT3 absolutely spot on, and my RT2000, I'd like to see how anybody would get on bringing a race-car to advance tyres

Advance Tyres would probably spend their time trying to figure out whether the GT3 was based on a Punto or Civic donor car!

Very nice GT3 by the way.

You should go and talk to Dave Mc Cann if you feel you were treated badly by the hired help.
Not a great idea to be 'dissin' a man's business on a public forum if you haven't talked to the man himself (aimho of course).
